Phosphoric Acid, MAP/DAP, DCP

Typical Phosphoric acid production process is a low temperature / pressure. The challenge is in the combined extreme corrosion and abrasion in the early stages of the process (around the attack & filtration). Things are easier after filtration and towards the concentration area.

Teflon lined valves and other solutions can save Sulfuric acid production projects hundreds of thousands of dollars as they provide a viable alternative for expensive high alloy steel valves and other solutions.

Detailed review of the application, site inspection, history of existing troublesome solution, consultation with the manufacturer’s engineering team are all important factors of a successful conversion or upgrade to better performing solution.

Phosphoric Acid Solutions

Teflon Sleeved Plug valves

Teflon sleeved plug valves are relatively compact compared to gate and globe valves. They are far less troublesome due to their cavity free design and compared to the cavity design of ball valves. They are available in standard and high alloys. They are also available in many arrangements (two way, three way, multi-port, standard reduced port and full port designs, heat jacketed, control modulating, emission control as well as other arrangements). All these features nominate Teflon sleeved plug to a unique positioning within Phosphoric acid, MAP/DAP, and/or DCP plants

Full Port Metal Seated Triple Offset valves

This is a new innovative design that combines compactness, metal seating, full port, tight shut off, availability in standard and high alloys, all in one valve that can be a best performer in combined corrosion and abrasion challenges

Diaphragm valves

In operating temperatures up to 85 °C, rubber lined Straight Through ‘KB’ type diaphragm are the logical choice for isolation service, and the Weir ‘A’ type are the logical choice for control due to their features (economic, durable, easy maintenance, low pressure drop).

Expansion Joints

With the mass flows of slurry abrasives through most of the Phosphatic fertilizers production plants, rubber expansion joints play a major roll in the integrity of the plants piping.

The problem arises with the difficult / expensive support ring inside the expansion joints when exposed to the abrasive / corrosive media in the line. Hence, a standard material support ring embedded in the rubber is an ideal solution.

Flexible rubber hoses

Fully rubber lined (internally & externally) flanges are best resort to protect the metallic flanges of the hose. Hence, standard Carbon Steel flanges can be used, which reflects on the cost effectiveness of the design.

Globe & Gate Valves

Gate & Globe Valves continue to play a big role in Sulfuric acid plants, even after far better solutions have been developed for specific Sulfuric acid services. This is due to their robustness, long service lives. However, they are known for their unperfected internal leakage and emission control; except for bellows sealed valves.
